Charles Moore
Senior Pastor
Charles Moore has served as Senior Pastor for First Baptist Church of Shady Acres since January of 2020.
The attributes that best describe Pastor Moore are solid expositional preaching, leadership development, and counseling. He has expressed a strong desire to lead a church like First Baptist Church of Shady Acres where biblical views are embraced and encouraged, with members who care about the needs of those around them and who want to connect others to the body of Christ. Pastor Moore takes worship and preaching very seriously, spending the first hours of his day focused on Bible study.
He is a graduate of the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary, Jacksonville, Texas.
Pastor Moore is married to Marianella Moore, and has five children: Brandon Moore, Gulf Shores, Ala., David Moore, Tyler, Tx., Matt Moore, Tyler, Tx., Maria Moore, Lake Jackson, Tx. and Aaron Moore, Lake Jackson, Tx.
Steven Slaughter
Associate Pastor of Youth and Administration
Steven Slaughter was chosen to serve as Associate Pastor for First Baptist Church of Shady Acres in January of 2020 after serving 5 years as Youth Pastor.
Pastor Steve answered the call to ministry at the age of 29 and was licensed as a minister of the Gospel in 2000. He served as a bi-vocational youth pastor in different churches until he landed as a member of FBCSA in 2012. He served for 3 years in different capacities as a member of the church. In September 2015 the door opened to serve as the Youth Pastor and Steven stepped in.
When the previous pastor of 18 years retired in December 2018, Steven assisted with daily church operations and served on the search committee for a new senior pastor.
Steven is currently working toward a Master's degree in Pastoral Theology at the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas.
Pastor Steve and his wife, Kimberlee, were married in December 2019, and together they share 5 children and 5 grandchildren.
Karen Frankum
Music Leader
Born and raised in church, Karen comes from an Assembly of God background. Karen has been in the music ministry for 37 plus years. As a teenager, she sang in the church choir and has directed many choirs since. Karen helped to develop Celebrate America in Brazoria and was the director of many musicals and plays at the Brazoria Assembly of God Church. Karen has a heart of worship and a great love for her Lord and Savior. She has been leading praise and worship for the past 22 years and has been the song leader at Shady Acres since 2011.
Edwina "Nana Wina" Hex
Children's Ministry Leader
Edwina Hex has served God as a Children's Minister, Puppeteer, Black Light Chalk Artist, and Christian Clown -known as Kelli the Kristian Klown for over 50 years! "Nana Wina" is blessed to have "her quiver full" of six children, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, as well as the many children she has adopted as hers, both ones she has ministered to and those she has met over the years. She has an Associate of Arts Degree in Drama and was School Librarian and Drama teacher at Sweetwater Christian School in Houston, TX for many years. She served with her husband, Joe, for over 14 years as a Ministry Team - holding Kids Krusades and teaching workshops for Christian Workers in Texas, Louisiana, and at a Workers Conference in Tulsa, OK. After Joe's death in 2016, Edwina became a member of FBCSA, where she now serves as Children's Minister and shares her stories through Live Video each Sunday Morning at 10:20 AM through "Sunday Mornings with Nana Wina". Nana Wina also serves on the Prayer Team and ensures members are kept up to date on urgent prayer requests no matter what time via text or phone calls and through the Bulletin prayer list.
